Not So Artful

I enjoyed the article on the Baltimore / Cone art collection. However, I was shocked at some of the sexist terms William Wilson used to describe the Sisters Cone. The terms spinster sisters, good wife material, horsy and dutiful old-maid daughter are highly offensive and are never used to describe men. While Wilson has taught me a great deal about art in his usually sensitive and intelligent articles, he evidently needs to learn a lot about sexist language in the media and plain old sexism, period.
