Having traveled to the Soviet Union with my daughter this summer, I was initially excited to see St. Basil’s and Red Square on the cover of the Travel Section. My joy quickly turned to disappointment, however, when Jerry Hulse’s article failed to capture any of the excitement we experienced.
My daughter thought St. Basil’s was the most beautiful sight she had ever seen. We were delighted by the man on the street who smiled and corrected my daughter when she incorrectly pronounced a Russian word on a building. We were warmed by the man in the subway who went several stops out of his way to help a priest in our group locate a Catholic church. . . .
