Back to Moscow

Re Jerry Hulse’s “Moscow” (Oct. 20): With all due respect, please go back to Moscow, study a few words of Russian, experience more of the Russian culture--and then tell us your impressions. Don’t tell us on a full front-page spread about a visit 20 years ago when we were even more entrenched in the Cold War than we are now. Tell us about today. Keep us current so we don’t have to keep returning to old ideas and images that contribute so little to our understanding.
Moscow is different and sometimes, as he said, harsh and severe, but the Oct. 20 article gives the impression that there is but one cafe in Moscow and that few people in that city enjoy life.
