Sweetwater, Crawford Top High School Football Seeds

SAN DIEGO — Defending San Diego Section 3-A champion Sweetwater High School and City Central League champion Crawford were named Saturday as the top seeds for the CIF football playoffs, which begin Friday night.
The Metro-Mesa League champion Red Devils, who finished 10-0 this season and ran their section-record winning streak to 35 games, will take on the Palomar League’s second-place team, Fallbrook (8-2), in the opening round Saturday night at Sweetwater. Last year, Sweetwater was seeded first in the 3-A playoffs and defeated Fallbrook, 48-7, in the first round. The Red Devils then went on to win their second consecutive 3-A title.
Along with Sweetwater, Palomar League champion Vista (10-0), 3-A Grossmont League champion Granite Hills (10-0), and City Eastern League champion Morse (7-3), drew seedings in the tournament, which will conclude Dec. 1 in San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium with the 3-A and 2-A championship games.
Vista will play host to City Eastern League runner-up Mira Mesa (7-3), and Morse will meet 3-A Grossmont League runner-up Helix (9-1) at Mesa College in first-round games Friday night. Granite Hills will meet the Metro-Mesa League’s second-place team, Chula Vista (8-2), in a first-round game Saturday night at Valley Stadium.
Crawford, which won its second consecutive City Central League title and finished 7-1-1, will meet City Western League runner-up University (5-5) in Round 1 Friday night at Patrick Henry High. El Camino (6-3), last year’s 2-A champion, is seeded second in this year’s draw and will open play Friday night at Oceanside High against Metro-South Bay League Champion Castle Park (4-6).
All playoff games are at 7:30. Here are the pairings:
Friday
2-A--University (5-5) vs. Crawford (7-1-1) at Patrick Henry; Castle Park (4-6) vs. El Camino (6-3-1) at Oceanside.
3-A--Helix (9-1) vs. Morse (7-3) at Mesa College; Chula Vista (8-2) at Granite Hills (10-0).
Saturday
2-A--Lincoln (6-3) vs. University City (6-3); San Marcos (5-4-1) at El Capitan (4-4-1).
3-A--Fallbrook (8-2) at Sweetwater (10-0); Mira Mesa (7-3) at Vista (10-0).
