Beginning Jan. 1, county fees for certified copies of birth, death and marriage certificates will increase.
County Recorder Lee A. Branch said the cost increases are mandated by the state Bureau of Vital Statistics in Sacramento and apply to all counties in the state.
Fees for copies of birth certificates will increase from $8 to $9, copies of death certificates will rise from $4 to $5 and copies of marriage licenses will increase from $7 to $9.
Phyllis Hanson, who supervises the county’s Public Services Division, said the cost of an actual marriage license will not increase from its current price of $35.
