Raymond A. Watt, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Watt Industries, last week received the 1985 Herb Nash Economic Development Award from the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
The award has been presented by the chamber annually since 1963 to an individual who has made a significant contribution to Southern California economic growth. The late Herb Nash, who headed the industrial development services of Southern California Gas Co., was the first recipient.
Since Watt founded his company in 1947, it has grown from a small family building business to a multifaceted construction and development corporation responsible for more than $6 billion in completed projects, ranging from single-family homes to high-rise hotels and office complexes. The company currently has under development more than $1 billion worth of real estate in California.
