San Gabriel : 12% Trash Rate Hike OKd

The City Council has authorized San Gabriel Disposal Co. to increase its trash collection rates by 12%, raising the rate for homeowners to $7.05 a month, effective this week.
City Administrator Robert Clute said the increase is on top of an 8% raise that went into effect last July and he expects the company to seek an additional raise in six months. He said the increases are needed because landfills have raised their fees for dumping trash and the cost of the company’s liability insurance rose in one year from $100,000 to $450,000.
