Ogilvy & Mather, a major national public relations company, said Jody Powell, former press secretary to President Jimmy Carter, has joined the firm as chairman and chief executive of its Ogilvy & Mather Public Affairs unit in Washington. He succeeds its founder, L. Michael Dowling, who is moving to another post at O & M.
Named as president and chief operating officer was Thomas C. Griscom, one-time press secretary to former Senate Majority Leader Howard H. Baker Jr. (R-Tenn.), and more recently executive director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
