Pepperdine Plays at Loyola Tonight
Loyola Marymount will be playing mostly for pride, while Pepperdine will be trying for better playoff position in tonight’s West Coast Athletic Conference regular-season finale, 7:30 at Loyola.
With all eight teams playing tonight, only two positions are certain: the University of San Diego (12-1) will finish first and Loyola (3-10) will finish last. That means the Lions will play at San Diego in the first round of the WCAC tournament Saturday.
Pepperdine is tied with San Francisco for sixth place at 5-8. The right combination of results could pull Pepperdine into a four-way tie for fourth place with USF, Santa Clara and Portland. The top four finishers play opening-round games at home. Pepperdine, however, cannot play a home game because several of the other teams measure up better under league tiebreaker rules.
