Poor L.A. Philharmonic bassist Barry Lieberman (“Artists or Laborers?” by Donna Perlmutter, April 12): He’s forced to work with “tenured incompetents.”

I would invite Lieberman to join the free-lance musicians in Los Angeles who are forced to omit the word tenure from their vocabularies.

Or perhaps he would rather re-audition for his position on a yearly basis?
