Moran’s Grand Slam Lifts USIU Over Aztecs

Opie Moran hit a grand slam off San Diego State’s John Hemmerly during a seven-run third inning for United States International University Friday, as the Gulls defeated visiting San Diego State, 9-4.
USIU (24-23-1) had 13 hits. Ron Green of USIU was 3 for 5 with a triple, a run batted in and three stolen bases. John Ronis went 3 for 4 with an RBI. The Aztecs (26-19-1) were led by Bob Parry, who had two doubles, a single and drove in a run.
Dean Weese (5-3) pitched a complete game.
