Newport Beach resident Shirley Sullivan has given $5,000 to Orange Coast College to fund an annual scholarship for an art student attending the Costa Mesa college.
The scholarship, which will provide $500 annually, has been named in memory of Sullivan’s late husband, Ralph Hulett.
Hulett, a watercolorist with Disney Studios who taught at Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles, won the Christopher Award (best religious film) for “The Guide” in 1968.
Sullivan, who hold’s a bachelor’s degree in music from Cal State Los Angeles, has been taking art classes at the Costa Mesa college for the past three years.
