1.1 Million Ford Cars of 1984-85 Recalled

DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford Motor Co. announced Thursday the recall of 1.1 million 1984-85 model cars for possible replacement of part of the ignition system.
Ford said the recall covers Escort, Lynx, EXP, Tempo, Topaz, Mustang, Capri, Thunderbird, Cougar, LTD, Marquis and Merkur models equipped with 1.6-liter and 2.3-liter four-cylinder engines.
A company spokesman said the ignition modules in some of the vehicles may not perform properly.
