Countywide : Orange Freeway Ramps Will Become Metered

The state Department of Transportation will install ramp meters and bypass lanes to regulate the flow of traffic onto the southbound Orange Freeway this month.
The project will involve 17 on-ramps at various locations over more than 11 miles, according to Caltrans. The affected ramps will be on a stretch of freeway from just north of the Santa Ana Freeway to north of Brea, near the Los Angeles County line.
The project is designed to reduce congestion as drivers enter the freeway, according to Caltrans. Most of the work is expected to be performed during the day and completed in late 1987 or early 1988.
Signal Construction Co. of Anaheim is the contractor on the $730,000 project.
