SAN DIEGO — California Highway Patrol officer Craig Peyer today was ordered to stand trial on a murder charge in the slaying of a San Diego State University student.
Municipal Court Judge Frederic L. Link ruled that there is sufficient evidence to hold Peyer for trial in the Dec. 27 strangulation of Cara Knott, 20, of El Cajon. Peyer, 37, who is free on $1-million bond, was ordered to return May 18 for arraignment in Superior Court.
