Michael Sporn’s Oscar-nominated “Doctor De Soto” captures the best qualities of William Steig’s faux naive drawing style. “Patrick,” based on a story by Quentin Blake, depicts a man learning to share the joys of music. Gene Deitch’s adaptation of Tomi Ungerer’s “The Hat” relates the improbable adventures of a magic top hat. But the “animation” in “Curious George Rides a Bike” consists of camera moves over H.A.
