The nation’s largest steelmaker agreed to pay the federal government $65,000 to settle charges that it willfully under-reported job injuries at its Clairton, Pa., coke plant. Without admitting any wrongdoing, the company--formerly called U.S. Steel--also agreed to correct injury and illness records for all of its 75,000 workers nationwide during the next six months, Labor Department officials said. The penalties are the second largest ever collected by the department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration for alleged violations of record-keeping rules.
