6 Killed, 19 Hurt as Bus, Truck Collide in Texas

BEAUMONT, Tex. — A Trailways bus and an 18-wheel truck collided on a rain-slickened interstate highway Monday, killing six people and injuring 19, police said.
The truck “jumped the median and apparently hit it (the bus) broadside,” Trailways ticket agent Michael Wright said. The bus was leaving Beaumont for Houston with about 20 people aboard, he said.
“The bus reportedly split open,” Beaumont police Sgt. Joe Hebert said.
