HIGH SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTS : Providence Steams Into First Place, 16-0

Providence took sole possession of first place in the Delphic League with a 16-0 rout of Faith Baptist on Tuesday at Burroughs High. Providence (16-6-1, 6-1) is now one game ahead of Faith Baptist (9-8-1, 5-2).
Jeff Cirillo and John Lite combined for a three-hit shutout. Cirillo had 12 strikeouts in five innings. “I was spotting the ball real good and was mixing my fastball in and out,” said Cirillo, who went 4-for-4 with two runs batted in.
Providence batters combined for 13 hits and seven walks. Adam Grant was 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and Lite was 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs and a home run.
