U.S. Action Against Kurt Waldheim

I find it somewhat hypocritical, though honorable, that our government has placed Waldheim on the “Watch List” to prevent his entry to our country.
I just wonder how we can rationalize such actions when we as a country were guilty of bringing the most brilliant German scientists--the rocket and bomb designers--to America after the war. We provided them not only with homes and jobs but citizenship as well--because it suited our purposes.
I’m glad we have ideals and take stands--but I wish it wasn’t only when such actions provide benefits to us.
