Robert F. Wingard, who went to work for Orange County in 1963 as an associate civil engineer in the Harbor Department, was named Friday as the county’s new director of parks and recreation.
Wingard, 54, said he expects to take the job “fairly soon,” after finishing several jobs in his present post as program planning manager in the Parks and Recreation Division of the county Environmental Management Agency.
EMA Director Ernie Schneider said Wingard’s exact salary has not been determined but said applicants were told it would pay between $57,000 and $70,000 a year.
Wingard will succeed Harold J. Krizan, who is retiring.
