The U.S. Military Academy is withholding an academic award that bears the name of Texas Gov. Bill Clements because of his role in improper payments to SMU football players.
Lt. Gen. Dave Palmer decided to hold back the annual William P. Clements Award for Excellence in Education until SMU completes an investigation into Clements’ role in the scandal.
