HIGH SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTS : Thousand Oaks Swimmers Win League Championship

Camarillo’s Jason Callahan won two events and was selected male swimmer of the meet, but Thousand Oaks grabbed the team title in the Marmonte League finals Friday at Rancho Simi Community Pool in Simi Valley.
Callahan won the 100-yard backstroke in 53.75 and the 200 individual medley in 1:57.27. Westlake’s Derek Strong was the only other double-winner, capturing the 200 freestyle in 1:46.45 and the 500 freestyle in 4:47.27.
In the girls division, Westlake won the league meet and shared the league title with dual-meet champion Thousand Oaks.
Stacie Duncan and Kelly Kocur, both of Royal, were the only double-winners and were selected co-female swimmers of the meet. Duncan won the 200 freestyle (1:53.64) and the 500 freestyle (4:59.12). Kocur won the 200 individual medley (2:11.40) and the 100 butterfly (59.32.).
SWIMMING
In the Del Rey League championship at Cal State Northridge, Crespi’s Chappie DeHaven won the 200 freestyle (1:49.16) and the 500 freestyle (4:52:21). Team scores were not kept.
Erich Rose won his third consecutive 100 backstroke title (56.73), and sophomore Johann Perera won the 100 breaststroke (1:03.52) for Crespi, which captured the 200 medley relay in 1:46.74.
GOLF
Jamie Nello of Newbury Park shot a two-over-par 73 at Simi Hills golf course and holds the second-round lead in the Marmonte League golf tournament at 143.
Simi Valley’s Allen Loftin shot a 74 and Chris and Mike Zambri shot 75 for Westlake. Chris Zambri trails Nello by three strokes.
Westlake, the defending Southern Section champion, shot 388 and holds the second-round lead in team competition at 750. Thousand Oaks was second at 392, followed by Newbury Park (398). The third round will be played Monday at North Ranch Country Club.
SOFTBALL
Sabrina Palmersheim tripled and drove in two runs, and Derinda Cole added three hits and scored two runs for Grant (2-6 in league) in a 12-3 win over Poly (3-5 in league) in an East Valley League game at Grant.
