A gunman fired on a group of youths standing in a Compton area alley, killing a 16-year-old boy, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said. George Morales of Compton died as a result of gang rivalries, Deputy Pete Fosselman said. Morales was with a group of friends in the alley behind 14715 S. Atlantic Ave., in an unincorporated area east of Compton, when the gunman stepped around a corner and fired from about 30 feet away, Fosselman said. Morales was the only youth hit.
