AIDS now rivals cancer as the most feared disease in the nation, and many Americans believe almost everyone is susceptible to the deadly, incurable disease, a poll said. A Media General-Associated Press survey found six in 10 Americans favor mandatory AIDS tests as a requirement for holding certain jobs, and more than half would take a vaccine against AIDS if it were available. Forty-eight percent cited AIDS and 47% cancer as the most feared disease, compared to 78% who cited cancer and 23% AIDS in a 1985 poll.
