Olds Charged in Galanter Attack

Former Venice gang member Mark Allen Olds was charged today with attempted murder and burglary in connection with the stabbing attack last week on City Council candidate Ruth Galanter.

Dist. Atty. Ira Reiner said “multiple” fingerprints and footprints found inside Galanter’s Venice house were matched to Olds, who turned himself in last weekend after police announced that he was a suspect in the case. Olds, 27, is being held without bail. Reiner said it is not yet clear whether anything was taken from Galanter, whose throat was slashed in the attack.
