Also on the colorization front: Presidential hopeful Rep. Richard Gephardt (D-Mo.) said Wednesday he would introduce the Film Integrity Act of 1987, a piece of legislation aimed at ending the unsanctioned coloring of motion-picture classics. Gephardt said the legislation would give film directors and screenwriters the final say on “distortions or alterations” in their works, no matter who owns the exhibition rights to the movie. Those who make films “should not be second-guessed by entrepreneurs in search of a quick buck,” said Gephardt.
