Meanwhile, over at Christie’s/New York, a modern sculpture by Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti fetched a record $3.63 million at auction Tuesday. The piece, bought by a private American collector, eclipsed by almost $2 million the previous record--$1.76 million for a Henry Moore figure--for a 20th-Century sculpture, said spokeswoman Lily Zimmerman.
