Pasadena : Leaf-Blower Ordinance
The Board of Directors, responding to complaints from residents about dust and noise, authorized the city attorney Monday to prepare an ordinance that could lead to a ban on leaf blowers.
The proposal by City Director Rick Cole would ban the use of the gardening equipment in residential areas, but allow leaf blowers in business areas, parks and schools.
The board delayed action on the proposal and will schedule a meeting to allow comments from gardeners.
Board members discussed other ways to prevent the noise and dust caused by leaf blowers, such as limits on their noise levels and hours of usage, but decided those methods might be unenforceable.
