Undercover agents concluded a monthlong investigation with the arrest of four people who allegedly sold a kilogram of pure cocaine to the officers, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
Brea Police Officer Jim Erwin said the four suspects, including a juvenile, were arrested at or near a restaurant in the 1800 block of South Main Street in Santa Ana at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Erwin said undercover Brea police had met last month with Richard Ramirez, 24, of Santa Ana, to discuss buying cocaine from him. After several meetings, Ramirez led the officers to the restaurant on Tuesday, he said.
Erwin said the undercover agents bought one kilogram of cocaine from Ramirez, David de la Rosa, 20, Juan J. Gamez, 19, and a 16-year-old juvenile, all of Santa Ana, for $22,000. He said the juvenile and Gamez fled when the officers tried to arrest them.
The juvenile ran to the back of the restaurant and pulled a gun on a pursuing officer but surrendered when the officer fired two errant shots at him, he said. Gamez was chased four blocks before surrendering, Erwin said.
The three adults were booked into County Jail on charges of conspiracy to sell cocaine, and bail was set at $25,000 each. The teen-ager was taken to Juvenile Hall.
Erwin said the confiscated cocaine had a street value of $300,000.
