Malibu : Sewer Hearings Delayed

Los Angeles County will delay hearings on the proposed Malibu regional sewer system until the environmental impact of collector sewers has been examined.
A draft environmental impact report has been issued for a two-phase, $60-million project, including a treatment plant that would serve 17 miles of shoreline and a few inland areas. The final report was originally expected early this year, but probably will not be complete until the end of the summer, said Brian Scanlon, the county’s sewer maintenance superintendent.
“We decided to have hearings on the main project and the collector sewers all at once,” Scanlon said.
The collectors, including manholes and lift stations, would connect with the proposed interceptor and treatment facilities. The amended draft report is expected to be circulated for public comment next month.
