Hart’s Withdrawal From the Presidential Campaign
- Share via
What a blessing it is for the United States that Gary Hart’s weakness was exposed before his possible election to the presidency.
The arrogance displayed in the address ending his candidacy; his admitted defiance; his statement that he had made no “bad mistakes”; his lack of humility; the total absence of remorse or contrition for the violation of his commitments (both marital and financial); and his failure to show appreciation to those who had volunteered their time and money add up to a man with serious flaws of character.
Very disturbing to me was the quote from one of his Colorado supporters, heard via radio news, saying, “What’s the problem? Everyone’s doing it.” I don’t believe it!
