Aldrich Recovering Well: Daniel G. Aldrich Jr., chancellor emeritus of UC Irvine and acting chancellor of UC Santa Barbara, was in “very good” condition and out of intensive care Friday after removal of a malignant tumor from his intestines, a hospital spokeswoman said. The surgery was Wednesday, said a spokeswoman for Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara. Aldrich, 68, was admitted to the hospital Monday.
