Kevin Burbank, a senior right-hander from Valencia High School, threw a no-hitter Friday in a 2-0 victory over Savanna in an Orange League game at Valencia.
Burbank, a 6-foot 5-inch 210-pounder, struck out seven and walked four in pitching his first varsity no-hitter. Burbank (11-2) ended the regular season with 109 strikeouts.
In the fourth, center fielder Rudy Lopez preserved the no-hitter when he raced to the gap in left-center field to make an over-the-shoulder catch at the fence on a drive by Robbie Nelson.
League champion Valencia (11-4, 15-8) scored in the second when Burbank reached on an error and Keef Leasure hit a home run to right-center field.
