ROCKVILLE, Md. — Part of a hotel under construction collapsed Monday, injuring five workers who “rode” a pile of crumbling concrete to the ground, authorities said.
The men were on the upper floors pouring concrete when a third-floor balcony caved in onto the second floor below it and the whole section crumbled, Capt. Ray Mulhall of the Montgomery County Fire Department said. He said that four of the men suffered serious injuries in the fall.
Investigators were examining the rubble and the remaining structure to determine what caused the collapse.
