Acting on an anonymous tip, sheriff’s deputies arrested eight people on narcotics charges and seized nearly 18 pounds of cocaine worth $2 million on the street. The arrests were made at the Holiday Inn on La Cienega Boulevard in West Los Angeles, sheriff’s spokeswoman Lynda Edmonds said. The suspects, seven Detroit residents and a man identified as Thomas Anderson, 25, of Chicago, all were booked on suspicion of possession of cocaine for sale and held on $1-million bail each. Edmonds said investigators were knocking on the door of Anderson’s room on the 10th floor of the hotel when other detectives, waiting outside, saw Anderson throw a pillowcase containing about 12 pounds of cocaine over his balcony. The other seven suspects, including three women, were arrested after about six pounds of cocaine was found in their rented rooms.
