McKesson Buys Service Merchandising Business

SAN FRANCISCO — McKesson Corp. announced that it has acquired the service merchandise distribution business of National Brands Inc. of Phoenix, Ariz.
National Brands, a Rocky Mountain distributor with approximately 40 years of service in the major appliance, consumer electronics, electric housewares and personal-care business, will continue to distribute these categories.
The general merchandise segment purchased by McKesson has sales of approximately $11 million a year.
McKesson will add the new Phoenix business to its Rawson Drug & Sundry Corp. of San Leandro, Calif. Rawson, a service merchandiser of health and beauty aids, general merchandise and candy, is one of six companies that comprise McKesson’s $800-million service merchandising division.
