Two Phoenix residents died late Friday night when their truck rolled down an embankment after the driver lost control on westbound Interstate 8 near Alpine, authorities said.
James Kent Gipson and Patricia Van Spriell, both 44, were pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner’s office said. The accident occurred about 11:15 p.m.
Gipson apparently lost control of his truck just east of Victoria Drive, rolling off the freeway and down a 15-foot embankment, officials said.
