The Nation : Three Slain at Restaurant
Three employees at a Wendy’s in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., were shot to death before the fast-food restaurant was due to open for the day, police said. A 15-year-old girl reporting to work the lunch shift was unable to open the front door and flagged down a patrol car, police spokesman Ott Cefkin said. Officers found the bodies of manager William Schmidt, 46, Michael Peters, 22, and a 19-year-old woman whose name was withheld because her family had not yet been notified. The motive was unknown, police said, and no weapon was found.
