So, the skipper of the frigate Stark became the latest victim of our irresponsible leadership--another fall guy for a faltering foreign policy.
Our alerted American warships, sailors and commanders at full battle stations with the latest weaponry and technology at their finger tips, hardly did any better in a multibillion-dollar escort operation of the American flag-flying Kuwaiti tankers than the defamed captain.
How many Pentagon admirals thought to tell the secretary of defense about World War II mines? Boy, with advisers like that, who needs enemies?
The tragedy is that our government continually fails to recognize the obsolescence of military minds in a nuclear age.
