Running back Earnest Jackson, waived last season by the Philadelphia Eagles after several disputes with Coach Buddy Ryan, has reached terms on a three-year contract that reportedly will make him the highest-paid member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jackson, obtained by the Steelers four games into the 1986 season, will be paid $1.472 million, according to the Pittsburgh Press, and could earn as much as $2.3 million including incentive clauses.

The 5-foot 9-inch, 225-pound Jackson rushed for 910 yards and 5 touchdowns for the Steelers last season.
