Beware of Tolls

As a former New Yorker, I am quite aware of tolls. We were also told that as soon as the George Washington Bridge was paid for, the toll would be removed!
Now they claim they have to raise the tolls to pay the salaries of the toll-takers. Nassau County in New York decided to put a toll on the Southern State Parkway a few years ago. The drivers exited the parkway before the toll and came back on at the following entrance. The toll was removed!
If Sacramento lawmakers are going to approve toll roads (Part I, Sept. 30), then they must lower the cost of car registration. They can’t have it both ways. In New York, I never paid more than $45 to register a car.
It won’t be long before you find tolls on sections of the 405, 101, 134 freeways, etc. Beware, Californians!
