Inglewood : More Money for Schools
School district officials this week said that Gov. George Deukmejian’s decision to continue Urban Impact Aid will restore $742,145 to the system’s budget.
Inglewood schools were forced to cut about $2 million from this year’s budget because of the combined impact of Deukmajian’s cuts of special urban school funding in July and a 10% raise granted to employees.
School board members will consider recommendations by staff that include returning custodians who now work six-hour days to full-time schedules, restoring a college counselor position that had been eliminated and rescinding one-month cutbacks for 12- and 11-month managers and clerical staff. A final decision on how to allocate the funds is scheduled for the Oct. 19 board meeting.
