FALL HIGHLIGHTS : Garcia Leads CSUN Volleyball Win

Senior Anna Garcia blasted a match-high 17 kills as Cal State Northridge defeated Cal State Bakersfield, 13-15, 15-12, 15-2, 15-5, in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. women’s volleyball match Tuesday at Cal State Northridge.
CSUN, ranked No. 1 in the nation by the Division II Tachikara coaches’ poll, was down a game and trailing, 12-7, before fending off Bakersfield with eight consecutive points and two easy games.
Sophomore Alissa Evans had 11 kills for the Lady Matadors (8-0 in the CCAA, 21-5 overall), four in the fourth game.
The Lady Matadors ran their CCAA winning streak to 35 games at the expense of Bakersfield, ranked No. 19 in the Tachikara poll.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Cleveland d. Grant, 16-14, 15-11--Nancy Nicholls had six kills for Cleveland (8-1) in the Valley 3-A League game at Cleveland.
Campbell Hall d. Buckley, 15-0, 15-6, 15-12--Nicole Holland had 8 kills, 6 assists and 8 service points as Campbell Hall finished the regular season 12-0 in Delphic League play, 15-0 overall.
Brethren d. L.A. Lutheran, 15-8, 15-13, 15-6--In a nonleague match at Brethren, Maricela Lopez had six kills and three blocks for L. A. Lutheran (8-6).
Agoura d. Nordhoff, 15-13, 15-8, 12-15, 15-8--Agoura (7-0, 11-2) clinched the Frontier League championship behind Shannon Mathew’s 19 kills at Nordhoff.
COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL
Cal Lutheran d. Christ College, 15-3, 15-1, 15-4--Jennifer Larson had eight kills for Cal Lutheran (29-4, 12-1).
Pierce d. College of the Canyons, 15-7, 15-12, 16-14--Shari Gartland had 11 kills and Kim Nikisher had eight for Pierce.
The Master’s d. Pacific Christian, 15-7, 17-15, 12-15, 15-12--Laurie Evans had 14 kills for Master’s (19-8).
WATER POLO
Crespi 10, Notre Dame 8--Eric Dolce and Tom Woiwode each scored three goals for Crespi.
Harvard 9, Agoura 5--Harvard (20-5, 7-0) clinched the Frontier League title as Tim Pennington scored three goals.
BOYS SOCCER
Van Nuys 2, North Hollywood 1--Jose Alvarenga and Chris Kraft each scored a goal for Van Nuys.
Reseda 2, Birmingham 1--Eyal Rapaport and Terry Davila scored goals for Reseda at home.
Monroe 4, Grant 3--Greg Hartsock had two goals for Monroe (2-0) in the nonleague match.
Taft 6, Verdugo Hills 0--Meir Cohen scored three goals as Taft (2-0) routed Verdugo Hills.
Cleveland 2, Manual Arts 1--Jason Steinberg and Mark Ringsmuth each had a goal for Cleveland.
GIRLS TENNIS
Grant 6, North Hollywood 1--Gabriela Knizek, Naomi Katz and Lona Chiang won singles matches for Grant (3-0).
