15 Horses Die in Indiana Stable Fire; 18 Rescued

GARY, Ind. — At least 15 horses were killed Wednesday when fire swept through a stable, but as many as 18 others were led to safety by nearby residents, fire officials said. Authorities said locks placed on stalls by horse owners prevented the rescue of many of the animals. The cause of the fire had not been determined.
