San Diego police were searching Tuesday for a man who kidnaped a woman in San Ysidro, threatened her with a pair of scissors and stole $500 in cash and her new car.
Police said Aileen Zuniga, 18, of Tijuana, was sitting in her car in a bank parking lot in the 400 block of W. San Ysidro Boulevard about 2 p.m. Tuesday when a man opened the passenger door and climbed in.
Speaking in Spanish, the man stuck an open pair of scissors at her throat, grabbed her keys and got into the driver’s seat, police said. He told her he was an illegal alien and then drove them about two miles to a residential area in the 1800 block of Alaquinas Drive, where he took her $500, ordered her out of the car and drove away, police said.
The assailant was described as about 30 years old, 5-foot-8 , 150 pounds, with long black hair and a mustache. He was wearing a long sleeve white sweat shirt that said “Corona.” Zuniga’s car was a silver 1987 Mazda with California license plates 95NASTY.
