UCI Falls to UC Santa Barbara in Volleyball

Yami Menendez had 18 kills and 5 aces to lead UC Santa Barbara to a 15-11, 15-13, 15-12 victory over UC Irvine in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. women’s volleyball match Wednesday at Santa Barbara.
UC Santa Barbara (23-12 overall, 11-4 in conference play) is ranked No. 12 in the nation.
UCI (9-14, 4-12) was led by Kris Roberts with 13 kills and Kim Collins with 12 kills.
In men’s nonconference soccer:
Cal State Los Angeles 4, UC Irvine 1--Mike Gregorian, Lucio Saldana, Phillip Machikelian and Mario Amador each scored to give CSLA the victory at home. UCI’s only goal came late in the second half and was scored by Jeffrey Pene.
