Local News in Brief : Garden Grove : Third Student Has Shot at Education Board Seat

A third county high school student was named a semifinalist for the student seat on the state Board of Education.
Tim Mosteller, 17, is junior class president at Garden Grove High School. He also is on the swimming team and is enrolled in academic honor and advanced placement classes, a school spokesman said.
Also competing for the seat are Maryela Martinez, 15, a junior at Saddleback High School in Santa Ana and John Godfrey, 16, a junior at Brea-Orlinda High School in Brea.
There are 12 nominees statewide for the seat.
