Edberg Goes Against Connors Tonight

Australian Open champion Stefan Edberg will play fifth-ranked Jimmy Connors tonight in an exhibition tennis match at the Forum.
Connors, who reached the semifinals at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open this year, is filling in for top-ranked Ivan Lendl. Lendl underwent oral surgery Tuesday and was forced to withdraw. Both Edberg and Connors have qualified for the Masters tournament Dec. 2-7 in New York.
In the preliminary match, starting at 6, Dan Goldie, former National Collegiate Athletic Assn. champion, will play Pete Sampras of Palos Verdes.
