Jerry Lee Lewis canceled three weekend performances in Southern California because of illness.
A spokesman for the Celebrity Theatre in Anaheim, where the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member was scheduled to perform Saturday night, said he was told Saturday afternoon that Lewis was sick at his home near Memphis, Tenn.
Lewis, best known for such ‘50s hits as “Whole Lot of Shaking Going On” and “Breathless,” was also scheduled to appear Friday night at the Holiday Inn Ventura Beach Resort in Ventura and Sunday night at the John Anson Ford Theatre in Hollywood. Refunds for the canceled shows are available at point of purchase.
A film biography of the rock star is due this summer from Orion Pictures. Titled “Great Balls of Fire,” it stars Dennis Quaid as Lewis.
